Scholarship winner Lebbon confirmed at Elite Motorsport

Ginetta Junior scholarship winner Tom Lebbon will race with Elite Motorsport for the 2020 Ginetta Junior championship.

Lebbon made his car racing debut with the team at the 2019 Winter Series after winning the scholarship in October.

In the Winter Series, the 14-year-old claimed four top 10 finishes, including a best result of fifth, and claimed the award for most positions gained over the course of the weekend.

He will join the already confirmed Tommy Pintos, Seb Hopkins, and Josh Miller at the team when the season starts in April.

“I am very excited to finally announce that Tom is running with us for 2020,” said team boss Eddie Ives.

“Since Tom won the scholarship, we have been working hard with him to prepare for the year ahead. Tom is a very talented kid and I have no doubt that he will play a big part in trying to defend out Ginetta Junior titles.”

Lebbon is the 10th young driver to be awarded the Ginetta Junior scholarship, walking in the footsteps of drivers such as Jamie Chadwick and Dan Harper.

Elite has experience running scholarship winners, who receive a season’s funding from Ginetta. 2017 Scholarship winner Adam Smalley went on to win the championship with Elite, and has continued with the squad as he takes the next step in his career.

“I am extremely proud to announce that I will be racing with Elite Motorsport for 2020 in the Ginetta Junior championship,” said Lebbon. “Winning the scholarship was a fantastic surprise and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead, on and off track, in the coming year.”

Lebbon makes the step up from kart racing, having previously enjoyed success on the national and international stage as a BMR Junior.
